Piling for sites where access is tight or limited headroom
Sectional Flight Augers (SFA) are ideal for limited headroom and restricted access, we drill piles using sectional augers which are added in 1m sections to achieve the designed depth. We can also pump concrete down through hollow stem augers with this system.
Bored piles for basements or construction areas with limited space require a smaller rig to achieve the desired results, mini piles range from 100mm – 350mm diameter holes and can adapt to the limited headroom and restricted access of sites. Ideal for cities with limitations on noise or sites with narrow access.
Installation includes similar methods to conventional piling systems, but uses sectional flight augers to achieve greater depths. Each section of auger is bored into the ground, and then another section of auger is attached for deeper drilling using strong auger pins to secure into place.
Techniques
Mini Piling / SFA
- Drill into the ground with the first section of auger.
- Secure auger with an auger plate and detach from the rig in order to attach the second section.
- Continue to drill into the ground using a string of augers to reach the required depth.
- The process is reversed to remove each section of auger and spoil is removed.
- Concrete is then pumped directly into the hole.
Screw Piles
- Ideal for sites where access is tight or the ground is highly contaminated
- Steel type screw pipes are designed then installed to a designed spec.
- No spoil arising with this method.
